A week prior to the event, I received an invitation due to my Mosaic status with Jetblue. Strangely enough, my wife didn’t get an invitation, even though she is also Mosaic. Thankfully I was able to bring her as a guest (with the ability to have two guests.) The event would be at the Oxford Social Club in San Diego on August 14th 6-9:30pm. After consulting my points stash and confirming I had a free night stay in San Diego (Andaz San Diego), we RSVP’ed in the affirmative.
We arrived at the event around 6:30pm. About 50 others were already inside. We were greeted at the door by a Jetblue Flight attendant and welcomed to go downstairs to the event. Downstairs, we were greeted by three gentlemen who checked us in. We then could roam around the nightclub and enjoy some of the offerings. There were two bars, two meat/cheese stations, an Ice Cream Ice sculpture stand and waiters passing hors d’oeuvres.
The main reason for the event was to introduce Mosaic members to the MINT offering. MINT is the first-class experience on Jetblue. It is available on flights from San Diego to JFK and will be coming soon to the flight to Boston. To introduce us to the experience, they had 3 seats that we could “test out.” The seats are lie-flat seats, and great for the longer Jetblue Flights, especially red-eyes. Three different flight attendants were on hand to welcome us into the seats, show off everything the seat had to offer and answer any questions.
Only once, around 7:30pm, was there ever a group message. One of the General Counsel members welcomed all of us, described the MINT experience and thanked a few of their partners including the San Diego Coastkeeper, Surfrider Foundation and the San Diego Airport. The Coastkeeper and Surfrider organizations also had silent auctions with prizes being a Private Sailing trip and a GoPro package.
After we tested everything and lounged around, we decided to leave and grab dinner. On exiting, we were presented with Swagbags. I believe one was for men and the other for women as we each received different amenity kits.
We were happy to attend this Jetblue event. It makes us think that it would be nice if Airlines/Hotels did more things like this for their elite members and not just for announcements, but also for appreciation. While I’m not holding my breath, I can wish/dream.
