State of the “Elite Status” Address

INTRO

As Q3 of 2018 draws to a close, I thought I would take a moment to reflect on my elite status earning this year. I did not have any status with airlines at the beginning of the year, but will have rectified that in the next few days. I’ve been able to maintain hotel elite status with a few different chains for a while.

STATUS

As most know, having a level of elite status with either hotel, rental car or airline (to name the major categories) can help secure upgrades, earn more points or just help you receive better service. Many of the statuses can be earned simply by having a particular credit card and/or spending a certain amount of money on that card per year.

WHAT WILL I EARN THIS YEAR?

AIRLINES
Alaska – MVP (Will qualify on my flight today)
Jetblue – Mosaic (Will qualify in the next few days based on spend on my Jetblue Card)

HOTELS/CASINO
Hilton – Diamond
Hyatt – Explorist
Marriott – Gold
MGM – Gold
Radisson – Gold
Total Rewards – Diamond
Wyndham – Diamond

RENTAL CARS
National – Executive Elite
Sixt – Platinum

MISC (Just for fun)
AMC Theater – A-List (Monthly subscription with perks)
Starbucks – Gold

CONCLUSION

I’m happy with where I am status wise, and don’t foresee being able to earn status with any other airline, though you never know what crazy promotions these companies will introduce.
